Brazil - Salvador

Salvador was home for 7 nights - the longest we stay in any one place.  The view from the 18th floor apartment.....

Some of us decided to be part of a 'Bloco' for one evening of Carnaval - we choose the 'YES' bloco  because Bob Sinclar was playing and he was the only person we had heard of.  To be part of the bloco you have to wear their t-shirt as this acts as your ticket.

Getting ready in the apartment

Emma and Simon wearing the outfits that some of the rest of the group were going to have to wear for their bloco..

After experiencing the craziness of the parade along the beachfront it was time to head up to the old town to watch a very different, more traditional type of carnival parade...

Brazil - Rio to Salvador

Everyone's favourite terraced campsite - which became more interesting the more people drank....

Campsite by a lagoon, no-one went swimming because of the rain......

The pretty town of Trancoso

Another cocktail night - but when making cocktails for 22 people there is no point using a cocktail shaker - use a large saucepan instead as Ali demonstrates...

Wayne waiting for his cocktail...

The town of Ilheus...

A good place to relax and have a coffee

..and it has it's own version of Christ the Redeemer

...campsite on the beach

Cachoeira - camping on the local football field - Helen defends her camping pitch, not the goal....

Ducks in the swimming pool..

Paul finds his new favourite drink...
