Chengdu was not on the original plan for China but due to the route change and the loss of Calypso we had to fly here from Lhasa.
For a city that is hot and is constantly overcast it proved to be surprisingly popular - not least because of the pandas.- See previous blog post.
The view from the hotel...
Chinese hotel rules can be a little strange..
"I'm sure that there is a MacDonald's somewhere near here......"
The Cultural Park.
The Peoples Park - every afternoon it's full of people singing, dancing, walking, playing Mahjong etc....
Main Square - complete with statue of Mao. Building work everywhere - including the construction of a metro system.
Along by the riverside..
Tao Temple.
Leaving Chengdu it took 18 hours on a sleeper train to reach Kunming - top bunks for everyone...
Kunming was our last major city in China, but it was only a quick overnight stop...
Our final night in China was in Jinghong - leaving for the Lao border after a last meal out...
