Waiting in Baku, Azerbaijan for the ferry across to Turkmenistan.
Ferry No.1 = cancelled
Ferry No.2 = cancelled
Ferry No.3 = thats the one we were on........
However waiting those etxra days in Baku did mean that we got to spend a lot of time in the newly opened Debenhams (much to the confusion of the security guard who got to see us several times a day - there is nothing to do in Baku apart from shop)
The journey is supposed to take approx. 14-16 hours - and yes, it did. We left Baku at 10am and dropped anchor not long after midnight - the problem was we were still 2 hours out of the port. And there we stayed until late the next afternoon, when we had the opportunity to sail slightly closer to the port - we could see it but we didnt actually get there until 11pm - a total of 37 hours after we had set off. And then it took over 3 hours to clear immigration and customs, finally arriving at a bush camp at 3.30 in the morning.
The reason for the delay - the President was opening a school in Turkmenbashi so everything was closed and no boats could land.
