China - Everest

Leaving camp at 4am it was a long drive up to Everest Base Camp.

On the way there was time for a quick stop at Rongbuk Monastery.

Below Base Camp there is a tent village where we stayed in our "hotel".

Time to walk up to Base Camp.

Due to strict Chinese control of the area you cannot get all the way
to Base Camp...

.....but the views are still pretty good.

 Later on the moon came out to light up the mountains....

..and as the temperature dropped it was time to return to the "hotel" to be tucked into bed - under large duvets - by our hosts. Night Night.
